• Bhairavi Sungum of Springs will host a ‘Day with Our Elderly Parent’ at the Bakerton Community Centre starting at 11.30am. This function is strictly for senior citizens who are residents of Bakerton. Contact Poovershree Pillay on 072 693 7808.

• The Last meal for 2018 will be held at the Senior Centre situated at 1A Seventh Street North CBD, Springs, on the corner of First Avenue, Springs. Meals are R50 with dessert and must be booked for catering purposes. Contact Merle Mackenzie 011 811 1700.

December 2

• Market Day at Selcourt Methodist Church at 7 Granada Road, Selcourt, from 8am to 2pm. Brekkie rolls, boerewors rolls and cold drinks will be on sale, as well as white elephant items. You can rent a stall for a small fee by contacting the church on 011 818 3713 or email selcourt@methodist.co.za

• The Senior Centre will hold its last bingo session for the year. Come and enjoy a fun filled morning with prizes, tea and a free meal donated by Mikes Kitchen. December 8

• Hospice East Rand will host Silke Kaiser, well-known local author and expert polygraphist, at a book-signing lunch. Both Silke’s books will be available to purchase at the lunch. • Three-koppie group hike of up to 8km lasting three hours through the Melville Koppies. Park, meet, and pay in the upper parking area at Marks Park, Judith Rd, Emmarentia. Hike sets off at 8.30am sharp so please arrive well in time. All donations are used to maintain the Koppies. Hikers need to be fit, with good balance, as paths are rocky and steep. The Billions Bubbles Show will be held at the Sun Arena at Time Square, Pretoria. This is a must for young and old.
