Selcourt resident robbed and assaulted

A Selcourt woman was robbed in her apartment.

While asleep in her appartment, a Selcourt woman was robbed and assaulted on Thursday night.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the victim was asleep when she heard a noise.

She dismissed it as noise coming from the storeroom next door to her flat.

Then she heard her kitchen door open.

When she jumped up the suspects were already in her room.

The victim was alone in the apartment.

The suspects had gained entry to her complex by removing bricks from the wall, then lifting up the electric fencing.

The armed men demanded cash.

She gave them the R150 she had, but they wanted more.

One of the men started strangling her when she said she didn’t have any more money.

Another robber assaulted her with a firearm, which resulted in bruising.

The suspects took a 42-inch flat-screen Samsung TV, her Samsung cellphone and her work laptop.

Springs police were on the scene.
