• Springs Tamil Association invites all devotees to their Varalakshmi Virtham Pooja, 2018, at the Sitthi Vinayagar Alayam at 3 Thirteenth Avenue, Bakerton, at 7pm. All women and young girls from the community are invited to participate in this auspicious prayer by performing the Maha Kuthu Villaku Pooja. • Secretary’s Day Champagne Breakfast starting at 9am at Cinnamon Circle Wedding & Function Venue, 7 Circle Street, Strubenvale. The guest speaker will be Ilze Kriel to speak on the topic “The Confident Woman”. There are prizes to be won, a lucky draw to win a summer handbag, gifts and exhibitors with special goodies. • The AGM of the Melville Koppies Management Committee will be held at 2pm at the Lecture Hut on Melville Koppies Central. Guest speaker Duncan Gibbon will share his musical expertise in a nature-orientated talk “The Birds, the Bees and the Trees in Music”. All are welcome. • Three-koppie group hike of up to 10km through the Melville Koppies. Sets off 8.30am sharp. Park, meet and pay in the upper car park at Marks Park, Judith Rd, Emmarentia. All donations used to maintain the Koppies. Hikers need to be fit with good balance as paths are rocky and steep. Children must be over six years old. No dogs.
