Although he lost, Katampa must be proud of his performance in what was the first performance of his professional career.

A new WBA Pan African Bantamweight Champion was crowned after Tanzanian Fadhili Majiha beat South African Rofhiwa Nemushungwa by a unanimous 113-115, 111-116, 110-117.

Lebo ‘Machine’ Mashitoa beat Romeo ‘Bololo (Beater)’ Katampa in his debut fight via a technical knockout.

The loss for the South African was not a surprise to those who watched the match as the defending champion had a tendency to move on to the ropes.

This left him vulnerable to the big right hand of Majiha, who made his intentions clear from the onset.

Majiha took the fight to the defending champion and his aggressiveness paid off and he wore the defending champion down.

The early exchanges at the start of the fight were evenly matched but Masamba grew in confidence as slowly gained the upper hand.

The second round was more of the same as the two fighters went toe-to-toe before a massive overhand right from Masamba sent Myles to the canvas and out for the count.

The victory is Masamba’s first of his career (W1 L3 D2) while it is Myle’s first loss of his career (W5 L1 D1).

Tanzanian Fadhili Majiha beat South African Rofhiwa Nemushungwa for the WBA Pan African Bantamweight title.

The bout started slowly with each fighter testing the other and trying to find holes in their defence.
