The officers were patrolling in Springs Extension next to the railway when they heard a child crying inside the bushes.
The spokesperson for the Springs police, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says when the officers stopped the vehicle to inspect, they made the discovery.

“They immediately called the Ekurhuleni paramedics to examine the child, who was then transported to the Far East Rand Hospital for further medical treatment.
“We request any person who might have more information as to the whereabouts of the mother of the child, to assist us,” he says.
Springs station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe was disappointed by the action that led to the child being abandoned.

She requests people to seek assistance from other organisations rather than abandon an innocent life in the bushes.
