Couple robbed in Struisbult, goes back to sleep

A couple who was targeted by robbers who tied them up, goes back to sleep to report incident the following day.

A man and his wife were asleep when they heard a noise at 1.15am on April 5 in Struisbult.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesperson for the Springs police, says the couple heard a sound of a door breaking when the husband stood up to investigate.

“He was approached by a suspect pointing a double-barrel shotgun at him,” says Ramphora.

The man screamed and fled back to the bedroom with the suspects following him.

Two more suspects entered the house and entered the bedroom, one of them armed with a pistol.

The suspects demanded money from the victims and tied them up.

“They started ransacking the house and took items to the value of R1 230.”

The suspects fled the scene on foot.

The wife untied herself and her husband, went to the neighbour who told them he did not hear anything and went back to the house to sleep.

“They reported the incident the following morning.”

A case of house robbery was opened.
