Strubenvale Primary School collects 2 000 litres of water for Western Cape

Local school goes all out to help the Western Cape.

Learners from Strubenvale Primary School are sending 400 5-litre bottles of water to the drought-stricken Western Cape.

This astonishing amount of water was collected in just two weeks.

The collection was in partnership with a local gym which was inspired by another company doing something similar.

“It was important for us help the community,” says school principal Tony Ramos.

“We cannot always be asking for help from them and yet don’t help when they need us.

“We have to build a strong relationship with the community.”

The families of the learners donated money to the project, and a local business gave the school a discount on the 400 bottles of water.

The learners were inspired and eager to help the people of the Western Cape.

“I thought it was a great cause and I told my mum I would even use my lunch money to buy water,” says Karabo Ndaba.

“I worked hard doing household chores at home and I earned the money.

“I felt sorry for the people and the animals in Cape Town,” says Diella Corregedor.

The project will continue as long as there is a truck going to the Western Cape.

People who wish to donate water can drop it off at the CrossFit Rag at Unit 13, Enterprise Industrial Park, 138 Butler Road between 2.30pm and 6.30pm.
