Spinning toward better health at the Springs Country Club

Test your limits with spinning at the Springs County Club.

Spinning is another way for people to get fit.

It is a cardio workout done on a stationary bike.

The 45-minute class consists of interval training where the participants are put through their paces as they attempt to conquer sprints and uphill climbs.

“You’re a quarter up the hill, you know it’s all in the mind,” says Wayne Dean, the instructor at the spinning studio in the Springs Country Club.

The mixed group of men and women groaned as they struggled through the pain.

“It’s a challenge, and the instructor really pushes you to go further,” says Deidre Kruger.

Spinning is a great way to build your cardiovascular fitness and your stamina.

You need not be Bradley Wiggins level fit, any fitness level will do as you build up strength over time.

Instructor Wayne Dean grins as he challenges the class to push on.

“I would encourage anyone to come join my class,” says Dean.

“It’s a good aerobic exercise where we play music to go along with the spinning.

“Come and try it out once and then take it from there.”

Spinning classes are held at the Springs Country Club from Monday to Thursday and interested spinners only need to bring a hand towel and water bottle.

Dean gives classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Reinhard Lösch instructs on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

The classes are indoors and safe and there is secure parking available.

There are four classes a week and each class costs R35 or you can pay a lump sum of R250 a month.
