Camilla loves to reach out to others

A teenager with a passion who cares for needy children.

Camilla Visagie has always had a passion for children and their well-being.

She recently visited The Potters Haven to spend time with the children and to hand over toiletry bags.

She is a 16-year-old Hoërskool Hugenote learner who claims she always finds herself surrounded by children.

“I keep them entertained and care for them,” she says.

This is the main reason she recently entered the Miss Princess with a Purpose modelling pageant.

The pageant is divided into five sections and includes 60 per cent charity work. Visagie says it is due to her charity work that she decided to visit the haven which caters for abused and abandoned children.

“They have to cope with very little funding from government and totally rely on donations,” she says.

She was the overall winner of Miss African Wild in 2012 and wanted to model again.

Visagie has not taken part in any competition since the aforementioned modelling pageant.

However, she recently entered the Miss Princess with a Purpose and was chosen as a finalist in the 16 to 19 years age group.

The finals will take place on January 27.

According to the founder of the haven, Marlene Minnie, Visagie has known the children for a long time.

Minnie says the teenager donated toiletries and baked cupcakes on a full-time basis as part her fund-raising project.

“She is still young, but is diligent and has a big heart, especially for needy children,” says Minnie.

Minnie believes Visagie will reach even higher heights with her kindness and care for her neighbour.
