An Endicott man who threw boiling water on a toddler was sentenced to five years in prison on Friday.
Mxolisi Ndlovu (31) was found guilty of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm in the Springs Magistrate’s Court.
The incident took place in Endicott on September 9, 2015.
SAPS spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says Ndlovu physically abused the child (2) by burning him with boiling water.
Police arrested Ndlovu on March 29, 2017.
Ramphora says Ndlovu was found unfit to work with children and his name will be included in the national children protection register.
He will serve his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
