Workers do dirty work for suspects

Suspects order employees to load electric cable into their get-away vehicle.

Suspects robbed a business in Welgedacht on Sunday.

The suspects arrived at the business in Aster Road, Welgedacht Agricultural Holdings in a Corsa bakkie at 9am.

At the time of the robbery, 10 employees were at work – five at the front of the workshop and five at the back.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says two suspects entered the workshop and demanded the employees at the back of the workshop to lie down on the ground.

“Only one of the suspects was armed with a pistol,” he says.

Five cellphones were taken from the employees and the other five employees were ordered to join the five at the back of the workshop.

Ramphora says two of the employees were ordered to load electric cable into the bakkie.

The three suspects drove off with the cellphones and the cable valued at about R60 000.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery.

No shots were fired.
