A woman from Everest Informal Settlement allegedly poisoned her child (6), then herself last Monday.
An inquest docket was opened to investigate the death of the 26-year-old woman and the child.
On arrival at 7pm police found the body of the woman and her child.
According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs SAPS spokesperson, they also found a suicide note allegedly written by the mother of the child.
“The note states the woman had enough of life because the father of her child had left them,” says Ramphora.
Paramedics were called to the scene and declared the mother and child dead at the scene.
Ramphora says they have not yet established what kind of poison was used by the woman.
“The postportem results will reveal the information,” says Ramphora.
