Suspects claim to look for place to rent before robbery

Two suspects, armed with a knife and firearm, robbed a house in Geduld.

Springs police are investigating a house robbery that occurred early on Wednesday.

According to police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the owner of the house was about to leave for work at 8.30am, when he heard someone shaking the security door at his house in Second Avenue, Geduld.

Two suspects told the owner they were looking for a place to rent.

“The owner opened the door for them and when he turned around, he felt something behind him,” says Ramphora.

One man pointed a gun at the owner while the second man held a knife.

They ordered the owner to hand over cash.

The owner handed over R6 000.

Ramphora says no one was injured during the robbery, but the suspects fled the scene with cash and two cellphones.

Anyone with any information that may help police with their investigation is asked to call the police station on 011 365 5719/20.
