WARNING: Metro says job messages on WhatsApp is hoax

The metro has issued a warning about a hoax message that is currently doing its rounds via social media, claiming to be from the Ekurhuleni metro.

The Ekurhuleni metro has dismissed a hoax message that went viral on social networks communicating a recruitment process for its Keep Ekurhuleni Clean programme.

“The Ekurhuleni metro has not invited applicants nor started the process of recruitment for the programme,” says spokesperson for the metro Themba Gadebe.

“Once internal administration processes are concluded, Ekurhuleni will make an announcement and invite the public to submit applications for a fair and transparent recruitment process,” says Gadebe.

The Ekurhuleni metro has encouraged members of the community and councillors to report people who may be involved in an illegal “recruitment process” to their nearest Customer Care Centre or phone the call centre on 0860 543 000.

“The Ekurhuleni metro urges residents to be vigilant and guard against being swindled by fraudsters,” says Gadebe.
