SAPS celebrate Casual Day at old age home

SAPS interact with senior citizens in celebration of spring.

Springs police visited the residents of Rus ‘n Bietjie Retirement Village to celebrate Casual Day on Friday.

The purpose of the visit was to celebrate spring and to donate toiletries to the residents.

“The residents thoroughly enjoyed the music provided by Capt Sonja Cilliers,” says Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesperson.

First on the programme was to wish everyone a wonderful Casual Day and to welcome the new season.

According to Ramphora senior citizens are often forgotten and their interaction with the residents brightened up their day.

“The attendance was wonderful and the residents welcomed the police.

“Through this act we can only strengthen the relationship between

the police and senior citizens,” he says.

Hettie van Coller, Rus ‘n Bietjie administration officer, says although the visit was done at short notice, they still appreciate the effort.

“We appreciate the visit and some of the visitors asked if they may visit again,” she says.

Cilliers music was enjoyed by all the residents, to the point of the crowd singing along.

“We do hope they will visit us again,” says van Coller.
