Probus Club visits SA Airways museum

Probus club visits places of interest.

Probus Club of Springs members recently visited the South African Airways Museum at the Rand Airport.

Event co-ordinator Barend Smit says most of the 42 members, both men and women, embark on enlightening outings to places of interest.

“Some of our recent visits included the museum and a brewery in Nigel.

“These visits, which are aimed at stimulating the mind and thinking of the older people, were thoroughly enjoyed by all,” he says.

The group had lunch at the airport before each member departed.

Probus is an association of retired and semi-retired persons.

“We are joined together to stimulate thought, interest and participation in activities at a time of life when horizons are narrowing and opportunities to make new friends is limited,” says Smit.

Although the word Probus is an abbreviation of the words Professional and Business, membership is not restricted to these two groups.

Smit says the club provides regular gatherings to persons who are in retirement, who appreciates and value opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances.

Springs Probus Club meets every third Monday of the month at Springs Care Community Centre.
