March in Springs may turn violent tomorrow – businesses to take precautions

A march heading toward the Springs Police Station between 9am and 10am tomorrow (Thursday) may turn violent.

The Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been informed by the Springs SAPS that community members from KwaThema and surrounding areas will be holding a protest march in connection with service delivery, crime and human trafficking.

“This protest march will move along Second Street towards the Police Station,” says Anita Greeff, general manager of the Chamber.

“SAPS cannot guarantee whether the march will be peaceful or not and have requested that businesses in that vicinity should take the necessary precautions to safeguard their properties and employees,” she says.

The intended march will take place anytime between 9am and 10am.
