SAPS finds body of Gugulethu resident allegedly stoned to death

Springs police attended to a complaint about a kidnapping but instead discovered the body of a man near Payneville on Friday.

According to Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, they reacted to a complaint about a kidnapping.

“When we arrived where the complainant was about to meet us, we noticed a group of people gathering in an open field,” says Ramphora.

The people dispersed when they noticed the police.

He says they found an unknown man dressed in a black and green striped shirt and blue denims in the field.

Paramedics arrived and declared the man dead on the scene.

“It looked like the deceased was stoned to death,” says Ramphora.

The reason for the deceased’s death is unknown.

Ramphora says they are investigating a case of murder.
