Tooth fairy will give too

The children of St Catherine’s Nursery School are proud to support The Potters Haven.

On Tuesday, they handed over the money they collected as part of the school’s charity donation project.

Principal of the school Susan Ramos says they ask the children to bring money to school every Wednesday and place it in glass bottles.

“As soon as the bottles are filled we donate the money to a charity of our choice,” she says.

This time their charity of choice was The Potters Haven, a registered non-profit organisation in Struisbult.

Ramos, who initiated this particular charity collection, says it teaches the children to care for others.

“It would be wonderful if other schools would also collect for such a worthy cause,” she says.

Marlene Minnie, founder of The Potters Haven, says they appreciate the gesture.

The organisation provides a home for babies and children who have been abused and neglected and also for those who have HIV.

“Donations, no matter how big or small, are appreciated and will be put to good use,” says Marlene.

She treasures the words made by one of the little ones at the time of the donation.

“She claims she had no money to give, but as soon as her tooth comes out and the tooth fairy gives her some money, she will definitely donate this to the charity collection,” says Marlene.
