‘There’s too much food’

Herman Human, afternoon drive show presenter on East Rand Stereo laid out his favourite things about the fitness challenge currently taking place between him and morning presenter Danny Painter.

The two started training at the beginning of the year and will face each other in a fitness test at the end of June to win bragging rights.

Trainer: Marelize Stander.

Charity: Operation Snowdrop.

Starting weight: 107.6kg.

Weight Goal: 95kg with body fat 12%.

Marelize has suggested that I lose 15kg.

Being tall I can’t lose any more but she says if I can get down with defined muscles I should look like an athlete.

Goals: I don’t want to just look good, I want to feel good which means gaining more confidence and leading a healthier, more active life.

I want to enjoy living healthy, eating organic and looking after myself.

Dislikes: For me the worst part is that there is so much food.

I have to eat six meals a day and I’m not used to eating so often and so much food.

I also have to weigh everything I eat which can be very annoying.

Likes: The workouts are fun because we (myself and those training with me at the gym) work out as a team and support one another.

Challenges: It’s tedious to eat the same thing all the time and I’m on this current diet for the next two months.

It’s also very hard to give up TV snacks like chips, especially dipper chips (Chipnix).

I also have to avoid premieres, I haven’t been anywhere this year, because the food is divine and the bar is free.

Marelize also told no more whisky and water, the trainers are supportive but they are very hard core.

The lighter side: The first day I started training for this challenge was leg day and after Marelize was done with me I couldn’t walk for a week.

Everyone was asking if I had something stuck up my bum.
