Masters win second game

The Payneville Masters played friendly games against the Dawn Park United Football Club Masters team at the soccer fields behind the Pam Brink Stadium on Sunday.

After a gruelling match and a good defence from Dawn Park, Payneville Masters lost the first game 2 – 1, Selepe Mkhaya from Payneville having scored the goal for his team.

During the second friendly game, Payneville Masters won 5 – 3.

The two goal scorers responsible for the big win are Seun Mahluza who scored three goals and Brian Mashego who scored two goals.

The team’s next few games will take place at the Bakerton sports grounds from noon against teams from KwaThema and Leachville.

Manager of the Payneville Masters team, Aaron Nkadimeng, says they find it difficult to practise as their home ground in Bakerton, as well as the field behind the Pam Brink Stadium, is completely overgrown with grass.

“It is embarrassing for us to invite teams from other towns to play on fields that are as unkempt as these,” says Nkadimeng. “We need decent sport fields in our town.”

The Ekurhuleni Metro will be contacted for an update on the soccer fields.
