Success on the tennis court makes Kyla and Eben winners

Kyla Yelverton was crowned the Selection Park Tennis Club ladies singles champion for the 2016 season at the club's prize-giving last Saturday.

Kyla took the trophy for the second successive year after another successful season.

She also won the trophy with her ladies doubles partner Gilliam Perreira and the trophy for the mixed doubles with partner Rynhardt Knoetze.

Eben Mare clinched the men’s club singles trophy.

He also secured an award in the men’s doubles with partner Rynhardt Knoetze.

Daniel Myeni took the runner-up award in the men’s singles while Anastatia Pesic was the runner-up in the ladies singles.

Pieter Stoltz and Niki Matic were awarded the runner-up prize in the men’s doubles.

Sandy Kock and Clair Gosse received second prize in the ladies doubles.

Anastatia, who received a prize for the most improved player of the year, was also runner-up with her doubles partner Eben.

Duncan Gill won the back-draw prize in the men’s singles championships, while Mieka de Lange received the ladies back-draw prize.

Ernst de Wet, chairman of the club, thanked everyone for their great sportsmanship throughout the year.

To all the players who played in the Round Robin on Saturday, Ernst says “it is always good to see new faces”.

Acknowledgement was also given to the parents for supporting their children and husbands or wives throughout the year.

Recognition was given to Janet Stevenson and Michelle Kent for organising the Round Robin and also to the sponsors.

The prize-giving was followed a braai to end off the event.
