According to WebMD, prostate cancer is a common cancer affecting older men.

It usually takes years to become large enough to cause any problems, although it can grow quickly.

What happens when men don’t go for regular check-ups for prostate cancer?

WebMD states that when prostate cancer spreads beyond the prostate, it goes first to the lymph nodes in the pelvis and then on to the bones, lungs or other organs.

Advanced side effects to prostate cancer are:

• Impotence, which is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection.

• Incontinence, which is the inability to control urine flow.

• Infertility, caused by most treatments for prostate cancer.

• Pain and weakening bones. This condition causes pain and weakens bones, making them prone to fracturing.

Although prostate cancer is not a leading cause of death, it continues to be a serious disease and should not be taken lightly.
