Metro fixes water leak but rusty pipe has to wait
Ekurhuleni Metro workers were seen fixing a water leak which was ongoing for almost four months in Eighth Street, CBD on Thursday.
When they arrived they not only fixed one leak, but also noticed another leak and fixed that one too.
The water had been seeping through the cement on the side of the road for almost four months.
Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry general manager Anita Greeff reported the leak then.

After repeatedly logging the complaint, metro workers arrived to fix the leak in Eight Street on Friday.
However, it was not the leak reported.
“When I asked the workers why they are digging up the cement about 10m away from the actual water leak, where there was no leak, they said “We will come back for the other leak”,” says Greeff.
Her concern is why the metro takes four months to fix a clean-water leak.
“Specially with water restrictions implemented by them,” says Greeff.

Cebile Ditshego, one of the workers, informed the Advertiser there were two leaks, but it is due to the pipe being rusty.
Both leaks were repaired and clamps were put over the pipe.
“I will give feedback to the metro on the rusty pipe that needs to be replaced,” she says.
