Local canoeist ready for action
Springs resident Tommy Booth is back and ready for the Hansa Fish River Marathon, which will take place on October 7 and 8.
“He took a break to concentrate on the Comrades, but is now preparing for the big water event in Cradock; 80kms of sheer adrenaline and fun,” says Jenny Dallas, Gauteng Canoe Union spokesman.
Florida Lake Canoe Club recently hosted the 22km Tops Spar Klip River Race, from Daleside to Meyerton, where Tommy finished in 1:31:00.
He is a member of the East Rand Kayak Club in Benoni.
Jenny says paddlers were heading for the Free State, to participate in the 70km river race that runs from the Ash Water Highlands Project to the Vaal River.
