Security guards in the Gold One mine arrested a man (56) for possession of a gold-bearing rock, on Sunday.
The spokesman for the Springs police, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says the suspect was arrested when shifts were changing.
He adds that the police were called to the scene by the security guards who caught the suspect, and he was taken to the Springs police cells.
Ramphora says the suspect will be charged with possession of precious metals and is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
