New Mercedes stolen

A white Mercedes Benz was hijacked on the corner of Wit and Butler roads, Nuffield last Tuesday.

At 5.45pm, a man and his friend stopped at a red traffic light waiting for it to turn green, when two unknown men approached his vehicle.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says one of the suspects allegedly opened the passenger door and pulled the passenger from the vehicle.

The other suspect jumped into the vehicle and tried to pull the driver from the vehicle.

Both suspects were armed with firearms and one of the suspects reportedly pointed a gun at the driver.

Ramphora says the driver opened his door, jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.

Both armed hijackers drove off in the stolen vehicle.

Because it is a new car, the owner claims the value of the vehicle is estimated to be R700 000.

No shots were fired.
