The guard was on duty and doing his routine patrol when he came across three unknown suspects.
According to Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora one of the suspects said, “Hey stupid, what are your doing here?”
“The guard rushed to the guard hut and pressed the panic button, which activated the alarm,” he says.
The three suspects chased the guard and caught him, and one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him.
“They also assaulted the guard by kicking and beating him.”
Leaving the guard on the ground, the suspects ran away towards the back of the business.
Ramphora says the suspects had gained entry by breaking through a concrete wall at the back of the premises.
No arrests have been made, but the police are investigating the case.
