The incident took place at about 2am, in Third Street.
When the man (age unknown) realised that he was not in state to drive, as he had been drinking, he opted to sleep in his VW Golf One.
A few minutes later, while he was in his idling car, the complainant was approached by two assailants, one of whom pointed a screwdriver at him.
The robbers took his car key from the ignition and told him to go away, then drove off in the car.
A car hijacking case has been opened at the Springs Police Station.
