A job not well done

Joan le Roux (61) feels the Ekurhuleni Metro should finish the job they started and not leave it undone.

She is an employee at a business in Fourth Street, Springs, CBD, who reported a water meter leak to the Ekurhuleni Metro Call Centre on April 22.

Although the metro reacted to the complaint only a few days after the leak was reported, she is not happy to give them a pat on the back for a job well done.

The leaking water meter was replaced with a new upright meter, which le Roux claims, are in the middle of the sidewalk and far too high.

“I feel it should have been installed a little deeper into the ground, ” she says.

She came to the conclusion that the meter should have been installed a little deeper, after she compared the newly installed meter to other meters in the CBD.

Although the paving was put back, it was not done properly.

Upon checking the alleged incomplete job, she noticed a mixture of soil and refuse was used to fill the hole around the meter.

“Now the sidewalk is uneven and it poses a danger to pedestrians,” she says.

Questions were sent to the metro, but nothing was received at the time of publishing.
