UPDATE: Visuals shown in Springs Monster trial

Several witnesses testified in the South Gauteng High Court today (June 3) where the Springs Monster couple's trial continued.

An image was shown of the steel pillars in the lounge between which the couple’s 13-year-old son testified he had been tied up horizontally.

Judge Eben Jordaan also saw images of the cupboard in the main bedroom where the couple’s children were allegedly handcuffed and put inside, as well as a hole in the ceiling where the boy said he was hidden and a hole underneath the house.

When police raided the “house of horrors” in May 2014, they reportedly found the house filthy with no food, rats and mice running around, a briefcase full of sex toys as well as piles of pornographic DVDs.

This is the house where the couple allegedly severely abused and starved their five children for years.

After seeing these visuals of the house, the judge said it looked as if a volcano had exploded in there.

The children’s father pleaded not guilty to 21 charges, including two charges of repeatedly raping and sexually assaulting his eldest daughter, who was 16 at the time.

The couple also denied guilt to charges of neglecting and abusing their children and failing to send them to school.
