Our roads are a scary place

On Friday evening, I was driving home when I witnessed a hit-and-run right before my eyes.

Woman of great destiny writes:

I was driving on Springs Road, from Brakpan, when I noticed that the vehicle behind me was being recklessly driven, so I decided to move to the next lane and let it pass.

As I drove further, the very same vehicle that drove past me brought me to a halt.

I witnessed the driver hit a pedestrian, who was pushing his friend’s broken-down car out of the road, with his car.

The vehicle driver deliberately drove into the poor pedestrian, with no remorse, and left him injured while he just drove off.

Luckily, I was able to take down the vehicle’s registration number and give the particulars to the victim’s friend.

I also made sure I called 10 111 to report what I had witnessed.

Fortunately, the victim did not appear to be fatally wounded, because he managed to get up and limp back to his friend’s car.

I was so appalled to witness that people can be so cruel.

The perpetrator hit that man like he was a dog, then he just left him there.

How inhumane can one be?

I would like to urge everyone to be careful on the roads, as there are a lot of cruel citizens, who feel that they are above the law and can perform such acts without repercussion.

Onlookers of any incidents such as this have a responsibility to society to report such matters, so that law enforcers can be assisted in fighting such crimes.

I hope that the victim is recovering and that justice gets served.
