The proof is on the scoreboard

Springs Rugby teams played against players from Sasolburg on their home ground on Saturday.

The u-21 team played good running rugby right from the start and beat their opponents 58-10.

Springs’ second team did well and within minutes of the kick-off Gossie Ngwenya scored the team’s first try with Thys De Beer’s conversion adding to the gem’s first points on the scoreboard.

The team is proud of their 24-17 point win.

Springs’ first team played hard the first few minutes of the game, due to a much heavier Sasolburg scrum, but soon regained their confidence.

David Woolls added points to the scoreboard with his three tries.

His brother Gary Woolls, Wynand Venter, and Hennie Nel each scored a try in the first half with Riaan Botha who added two more tries to the scoreboard.

The half-time score was 26-8 points.

Ockert Brits, the team’s head coach, says he is extremely proud of the team and what they have achieved this season.

Dawid van Niewenhuizen, the fly-half, made sure of six conversions throughout the game and also scored a try in the second half.

Jaco Grobler and Strachen Nortje each scored a try in the second half adding to the first team’s victory over Sasolburg.

The final score was 69-8.

“The team played more effective rugby,” says Ockert.
