Tekkie Tax Day excitement at Geduld Epilepsy Centre

Geduld Epilepsy Centre celebrated Tekkie Tax day by walking to a shopping centre in Paul Krugersoord on Friday.

Mandy Lotter, from the centre, says residents, dayworkers and some of the staff members took to the streets at 9am to raise awareness of epilepsy as well as to sell Tekkie Tax stickers.

They walked in East Geduld Road, to Fourth Avenue, towards the Paul Kruger Highway and returned via the same route.

They wanted to make a difference to raise funds for the centre by selling stickers and shoelaces to the public.

Tekkie Tax is the way to go,” she says. With this campaign assures that the sticker and shoelace donations make an impact on somebody’s life.

Since the inception of the campaign only four years ago, more organisations have joined the day to raise funds and awareness.

“Walking this distance was quite a challenge, but we surprised everyone who participated, with a boerewors braai and cold drinks,” says Mandy.

Next Tekkie Tax day will be held on May 27, 2017.
