Old Boys U-12 still at the top

Springs Old Boys’ U-12s played a home game against Germiston’s U-12s, in their Eastern Local Football Association league game on Sunday morning.

“This is the first match of the day,” said Titi Msiza, who is the manager of the Springs Old Boys’ U-12 team, “and we’re excited because we are at the top of the log at the moment.”

Old Boys played an impressive defence game against Germiston, making sure that their opponents did not get a goal in for the entire first half.

Aidan Jayne of Springs Old Boys scored the first goal against Germiston, which got the game off to an exciting first half.

Dumisani Buthelezi came in with a second goal for Old Boys, which put the team in the lead in the middle of the first half of the game.

Old Boys’ defence was still strong as they did not concede a single goal, but ended the first half strongly when Aiden Jayne scored the third goal for his team and his second goal of the match.

The final score at half-time was 3-0 to Old Boys and left Msiza very excited.

“So far, we are playing a good game,” she said excitedly. “The boys are showing great team spirit.”

The second half of the match had on-lookers excited as Lungile Vilakazi hardly wasted any time when he came in with a goal, within the first 15 minutes.

Germiston Football Club struggled against the tight defence of their opponents, and could not secure a goal for their team.

This left the final score at 4-0 when the end of the second half came.

“I am happy,” exclaimed the Msiza. “As I said, we still remain at the top of the log.”
