Four trucks drive off with stolen goods in New Era

Approximately 15 suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of stolen goods from Sesfigile Logistics in Lead Road, New Era on Sunday.

A 37-year-old guard was on duty at 12.30am, when he was confronted by two armed men.

The suspects took the victim to the guardroom. He noticed that the main gate opened and four trucks entered the premises.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the guard claims there were no licence plates fitted to the front or back of the trucks.

At around 4am, he saw the company supervisor enter the premises in his vehicle but he then soon tried to drive away.

Ramphora says the victim heard two gunshots and saw the suspects with the supervisor.

Both victims were tied up with shoelaces.

When they realised it was quiet, the supervisor managed to untie himself and the guard, who then walked around on the premises to investigate.

The duo realised the suspects got away with approximately 21 wooden pallets of tinned fish and 21 pallets of various hair products and body lotions.

The value of the stolen goods was not available at the time of publishing.

Ramphora says the supervisor claims a marked police vehicle was spotted at the entrance of the business when he entered the premises.

No one was injured and the police are investigating.
