Another metro success

Selection Park resident Roland Charles recently followed the terrible stench and discovered an overflowing sewage drain in an open field behind his house in Falcon Road.

The stench had been filling the air for quite some time but on some days it was worse than others.

“I eventually decided to go for a walk in the open field behind my house to investigate to see if I could find its origin,” says Charles.

He soon found stagnant water and upon further investigation he found the origin of the smell as well as the filthy water.

“The sewage drain must have been overflowing for a while and although the drain cover is still in place, the water seems to seep through next to the manhole,” he says.

He believes it might be due to a burst pipe.

The Addie accompanied Charles to the sewage spill on Friday and noticed the area was flooded in sewage.

Charles says although he reported the leak last week, his complaint got lost in the system, but he believes his neighbour reported the leak again, which led to the metro’s reaction to the scene.

The metro responded to the complaint on Monday, fixing the leak and clearing the sewage spill.
