Selcourt man found with unlicensed firearms and ammunition

A 44-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Eagle Street, Selcourt at 10am on Tuesday.

The Springs police followed up on information they received about a man in possession of an unlicensed firearm and went to investigate.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says when they arrived, they searched the house and recovered a CZ 75 rifle with seven live rounds, a shotgun and a 9mm pouch.

“We arrested the man and took him to the Springs police cells,” says Ramphora.

He was not charged but will remain in the cells until his first court appearance on Wednesday.
