Missing parcel found

Selcourt Enclosure resident Sarie van Niekerk (61) was horrified when a couriered parcel recently went missing en route to Wellington.

The parcel was sent on February 10 three days before the ‘big’ search began for the missing parcel.

Although it was located several times, it travelled from Bethlehem and Bloemfontein to Durban and finally ended up in Johannesburg.

After several visits to the post office in Selcourt, and the assistance of Ivan Smith, the friendly branch manager, the parcel was finally delivered to van Niekerk’s daughter Helen Kok, in Wellington.

“The post office makes use of a private courier service for fast parcel deliveries,” says van Niekerk.

Van Niekerk claims the post office cancelled their contract with the courier company who then allegedly withheld some of the parcels.

When she received a phone call from Smith last Wednesday, she was told the parcel was located in Johannesburg and would be send to Wellington as soon as possible.

“My daughter informed us on Friday that the parcel was delivered,” she adds.

Van Niekerk adds it is also vital that the correct postal code is used, as this might have been the reason why the parcel went missing.

Questions were sent to the South African Post Office more than a week ago, but no comment was received at the time of publishing.
