Business robbed of cash

Three armed suspects entered a property in Phoenix Road, Selcourt on foot, to rob a business of an undisclosed amount of cash on Friday.

When the employee arrived at work in his bakkie at 7.15am, it was work as usual when the security guard opened the gate to allow him to enter.

However, three armed suspects entered at the same time and started shooting at the driver of the bakkie.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the suspects allegedly shouted at the employee ‘where is the money’.

The employee handed the cash to the suspects, who then ordered the security guard to open the gate.

The suspects took a cellphone and the cash and left the premises.

Ramphora says the employee jumped out of his vehicle and chased after the suspects and caught one of the suspects.

The employee made a citizen’s arrest and called the police who took the suspect to the police station.

“We opened a case of business robbery and will investigate the robbery,” says Ramphora.

No one was injured.
