According to EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago, on Wednesday at around 9:00, the combined effort of the EMPD Loss Control Unit members and SAPS members were able to recover a VW Golf 7 that had been hijacked in Springs earlier that day.
Kgasago says upon receiving the alert on the hijacked vehicle from the tracking company, the law enforcers traced the car to Swababa Street at Lekaneng Section in Tembisa.
“As the culprits felt the heat from the law enforcement officers, they decided to abandon the vehicle and flee the scene.
“The vehicle was found still intact and taken to the SAPS pound in Benoni,” he says.
