The man heard someone screaming from the house next door at 1am and, upon investigation, saw three men walking away from his neighbour.
Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the man saw a man lying on the ground with a stab wound to his neck.
He called the police and an ambulance, and the paramedics declared the security guard dead on the scene.
“The deceased’s neighbour claims that the murdered man was a security guard on duty at the house, and that the house is for sale,” Ramphora says.
The victim was about 35 years old.
A murder case was opened at the police station.
Ramphora says the reason for the murder is unknown.
