Swimming team makes a splash

Local swimmers advanced to the Strategic Development Squad after competing in Eastern Gauteng Aquatic Championships between December 3 and 7.

The championships, which took place at Delville Aquatics Complex, saw more than 450 swimmers from over 30 different swimming clubs competing in the event.

Blackfin Swimming Club had seven swimmers competing in the championships and started preparations for the swimming event in August.

The top eight in each division were then selected to compete again.

All seven swimmers from Blackfin club managed to beat their previous best times.

Club swimmer, Remo Venturi (12), achieved South African Level Three qualifying time, enabling him to compete against South Africa’s top junior swimmers.
