Athletes donate food to SPCA
Springs SPCA received generous donations and much-needed dog and cat food from the members of the Springs Striders Athletics Club on Sunday.
Liezl Kruger, manager of the SPCA, says they are grateful for the donations and appreciate every effort made by the runners of the club.
The athletes left the Springs Rugby Club at 7am to run towards the SPCA where the donations were handed over to Liezl.
“The ongoing kindness of the community does not go unnoticed,” says Liezl.
Debbie Miller, SPCA fundraiser, says the donation is valued at about R2 500.
“It is wonderful to see the support of the community.
It is because of people like you that we can continue our work,” says Debbie.
Jackie Seddon, chairman of the Striders club, says the club decided to donate cat and dog food to the SPCA this year.
“The response of the club members was overwhelming,” she says.
Athletes from Benoni Harriers Athletic Club and Sunward Athletic Club joined the Striders in making this donation possible.
After the donation the athletes returned to the Springs Rugby Club where they enjoyed breakfast.
