According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the police received numerous complaints over a period of time about a man pretending to be a car salesman.
“He shows potential buyers a photo of cars on his cellphone. He tells them to deposit money into an account and then he gives them a receipt,” says Capt Ramphora.
The police investigated the matter and arrested the man last Monday. A receipt book, which had been stolen from a local spares shop, was found in his possession.
Capt Ramphora adds the shop owner opened a fraud case at the Springs Police Station.
The suspect will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
