Gauteng and Ekurhuleni drum up support for Idols’ Rhema
Rhema gets great support from Ekurhuleni and Gauteng Province.
JOHANNESBURG – The City of Ekurhuleni Municipality, together with Gauteng Province, is adding its voice in support of 21-year-old Rhema Varrie, the only contestant from Ekurhuleni who has made it to the top three finalists of Idols SA.
The MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Ms Molebatsi Bopape, has called on the people of Gauteng to vote in support of Idols hopeful Rhema, while the Financial Whip in Ekurhuleni, Clr Neil Diamond, also urged Ekurhuleni residents to vote for the Idols hopeful.
The 21 year old who hails from Alberton in Ekurhuleni, is the only surviving local contestant flying Gauteng’s flag high among the last three finalists.

“There’s no doubt that Rhema is talented and thus representing Gauteng very well. In appreciation, we have to support him by voting in our numbers. The makeup of the competition is such that talent has to be accompanied by votes, hence the call to keep him in the competition and he will do the rest,” said MEC Bopape.
“Gauteng is the ‘Home of Champions’ and a leading province, not only in sports but in all spheres. We have top teams, artists, and talent across the board with a massive support-base whose success can also be attributed to support from the public. Let’s get behind our young future star and vote for Rhema,” said MEC Bopape.
In adding support to the young singer’s cause, Diamond said, “Varrie is a resident from Eden Park in Ekurhuleni, and as such, he is our home boy and local talent.

“The young Ekurhuleni Idols hopeful is receiving the full support of Ekurhuleni and all our residents.
“Rhema is the first Ekurhuleni resident to go so far in the competition and we know he can go all the way. Councillors, staff and residents have become loyal supporters and have voted every week to get #TeamRhema to the next round of the competition.
“We are in the final stages and we urge residents to support Rhema Varrie to become the first Idols winner from Ekurhuleni,” said Diamond.
