Painting dudes

After the little people left, Alpha’s parentals stayed for the weekend.

Never thought I’d even think this, but it was nice and quiet and peaceful.

No crying, howling or yelling.

Except for one day when a hairy person named Kobus appeared and they all sat in the lounge bellowing at the TV and snarfing down pizza.

My woggeldy whiskers – he has more hair on his face than I do!

Dashed off to find my rugby ball. Mom and I had a game outside.

Ouma made space for Mom on the couch and said I must come watch too.

But Mom said she’s rather watch paint dry.

Turns out that this Kobus person was family too.

Chunky chop bones!

How much family can a person have?

In addition to the chaos – on the very same day that everybody arrived the blue dudes that have been painting our complex pitched up too.

Mom groaned.

Sheesh… seriously? Now!

Why do they have to pitch up now?

They came with their ladders and lots of pots of smelly paint.

They swarmed up the walls and appeared at windows upstairs when I was not expecting to see them.

Sometimes they were not expecting to see me either!

They made a lot of tsk tsk noises when they saw how pretty my ball wall is.

It’s speckled with dark brown polka dots.

Hundreds of them.

The day after everybody arrived, the little people were playing on the grass when some of the paint dudes appeared by the front stoep.

I checked them out and growled… one of those deep down low in my throat mean sounding growls.

Back off dudes.

They backed off a bit and eyed me out cautiously.

They wanted to paint the stoep.

Mom laughed hysterically.

No ways she said.

Absolutely not.

Please go away and paint somebody else’s stoep.

You can come back here next week.

They eyed her out cautiously too.

Must admit – she did look a tad crazy waving her arms around like a lunatic.

They backed off a bit more, then shook their heads and shuffled off.

The paint boss appeared a bit later and said they’d be painting the window frames at 7.30am the next day.

Mom did one of her arm waving things at him too.

They came back after everybody else had gone.

They stayed a week.

A very long week.

I did a lot of supervising from the couch.
