Little people

When Mom started cleaning up the spare room again I looked at her with big puppy dog eyes.

Whatever is going on now?

She wiggled her eyebrows at me. We’re getting little people Fudges.

Hmmm…the last little person that came to stay was my puppy and a jolly bossy little creature she was too.

She did a rapid about turn and went from screeching in fear when I smiled at her, to telling me “No, no no Fudgie” when I tried to slurp her face clean.

But I decided to reserve judgement until they arrived.

Alpha and Mom got up when it was still dark. Looked at them blearily – ag no – don’t tell me we are going for another road trip?

Nope, said mom – we’re going to the airport to fetch the family.

I stretched and shook myself out.

Okay – I’ll come then.

No worries Fudges.

You go back to sleep, said mom. You can’t come to the airport and anyway, there’s no space for you in the car.

How very rude!

No space indeed? I’m not that large!

Before she left she checked out the room. I popped my head around the corner too. My tickly toenails – a nice big baskie on the floor for me.

Nooooo!

Howled mom.

Off Fudges off!

That’s not for you – it’s for Alec and I’m sure he won’t want to sleep in a hairy bed. Out!

She closed the door behind us.

They went off and came back later with lots of noise.

Two little people and a big one.

And they were not one bit scared of me either.

Dashed outside and lined up my balls on the grass.

Come kiddies… let’s all play.

But first they all went upstairs to see their room.

I skulked along behind.

Mom gasped. The door was open and the baskie-bed was a tad rumpled. I had tested it out while they were away – just to make sure that it was comfy for this Alec person. Ralph was still in the process of testing it – fast asleep under the duvet.

Mom was not pleased. She wagged her finger at me and scooped up that cat.

The Alec person turned out to be a little boy aged 4. Then there was an Ellie person too – an older girl.

I really fancied her. She gave me lots of love and cuddles and held my paw.

They both played ball with me – a lot.
