Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says community members informed police about the body.
When the SAPS arrived, they found the man lying in the street with a bullet wound to his upper body.
Ramphora says paramedics were called and declared the man dead on the scene.
“We couldn’t find any identification on him and the community couldn’t identify him either,” he says.
A murder case was opened at the police station.
