Man killed at work

A 30-year-old man was killed at a business in Industry Road, in New Era, on Monday.

The employee was fatally injured while offloading wooden crates from a delivery truck at 3.25pm.

The crates contained glass.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says police arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and found the man trapped between the crates.

Paramedics declared him dead on the scene.

Ramphora says they are investigating the circumstances.

Jürgen Krüger, the company’s managing director, confirms the incident and says the company is working with the local authorities on a full investigation into the incident.

“Our condolences are with his family and friends during this difficult time,” he adds.
